The 28th Annual Rural and Remote Medicine Course

After carefully considering the evolving situation with COVID-19 and keeping in mind the Public Health Agency of Canada’s advice on mass gatherings during the outbreak, we have made the difficult decision to cancel Rural and Remote 2020 that was scheduled for April 23rd – 25th in Ottawa ON.

We are working on further details and will have them available to you next week.

We appreciate your patience and understanding.

"The rural aspect was highlighted.  The keynote speakers were of high caliber.  The social and family friendly events were of high quality and we enjoyed them very much.  My favorite conference to date with regards to the social aspect and camaraderie and use of humor throughout!  Exceedingly well-planned."

"The Saskatchewan Medical Association always chooses the inserts into the registration bags at the annual SRPC conference as a way to promote our booth and our messaging. Over the years we have found that doing this has increased traffic to our booth. Visitors to our booth have advance knowledge of why we are there and what we can offer. We have found that this has also helped us to have more meaningful conversations with physicians we meet. In fact, the style and design of our insert are often our first topic of conversation. We will continue to use the inserts into the registration kits for future years." - Randall Kehrig

Our friends at the International Society of Addiction Medicine (ISAM) are gearing up for an online conference offering unprecedented global access to industry-leading addiction medicine education.

    ISAM-CSAM 2020 Scientific Conference & Annual Meeting

The ISAM-CSAM Annual Conference brings together more than 700 leaders, researchers, and clinicians in addiction medicine to share, collaborate, and connect. In addition to a conference program featuring global leaders and prominent researchers, both ISAM and CSAM offer pre-conference and post-conference educational opportunities for professionals looking to expand their skills and knowledge. This year marks the first year that the conference will be held exclusively online, in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and British Columbia’s restrictions on gatherings of more than 50 people.

What have people said they liked about this course?

    • Wide variety of topics, lots of truly rural doctors doing the presenting and great opportunities to meet with others.
    • As a first time attendee, really enjoyable!  I was able to network with lots of people in the region and/or in similar practice situations which is rare. Great topics that were relevant and practice changing!  Social events were enjoyable so I'm leaving with new friends!
    • The childcare was outstanding. My kids LOVED the bouncy castle and the face painting at the Mix and Mingle Reception.
    • I enjoyed networking with colleagues. Nice to see enhanced attendance from other groups - general surgery, obstetricians, midwifery, nurses.
    • The contents covered all rural practice aspects and gave students plenty of hands-on working experiences and interaction with trainers.
    • I thought it was wonderful - I only wished I could have attended more sessions,
