ABOUT PRAIRIE MOUNTAIN HEALTH:

Prairie Mountain Health (PMH) provides a full spectrum of healthcare services to all of southwestern Manitoba. Officially formed in June 2012, PMH is one of five regional health authorities in the province. The PMH region covers approximately 67,000 square kilometres and serves over 167,000 residents including 14 First National Band communities, 15 Northern Affairs community councils and 30 Hutterite colonies/communities. Within the PMH region there are 20 acute care sites, 43 long term care sites, 9 transitional care sites, 6 primary health care centres and one orthopedic rehabilitation centre.

DESCRIPTION:

Prairie Mountain Health is looking for 1 rural Fee-for-Service family physician to share a practice with experienced rural physicians.

Glenboro Clinic and Glenboro Health Centre is an 11 bed acute care and 26 bed long term care facility. Services offered at the Glenboro Health Centre and Glenboro Clinic include Diagnostic, Emergency, Public Health, Mental Health, and Home Care Services.  The Glenboro Clinic is currently housed within the Glenboro Health Centre, with PMH planning construction of a new building for the Glenboro Clinic in the near future. The physician will provide services at both Glenboro locations.

Glenboro shares an on call rotation with the neighboring community of Carberry at their Carberry Clinic and Carberry Health Centre, which is a 10 bed acute care/36 bed long term care facility. The on-call schedule is typically 1:3.

Duties to include: performing all duties associated with a family practice, including diagnosing and treating diseases, physiological disorders and injuries of patients, act as the primary care provider and provide continuous care toward the management of patients' health. The physician will also share in the Emergency department on-call schedule and will cooperate and coordinate coverage with other physician colleagues.

The Village of Glenboro is situated at the junction of Provincial Highways 2 and 5, in the Westman Region of Manitoba. The Village lies on the rolling plain between the Tiger Hills and the Assiniboine River and Spruce Woods Provincial Park to the north. If you are looking for great shopping and entertainment, the City of Winnipeg is only an hour and a half away and 50 minutes from the City of Brandon.

Agriculture and Tourism has always been the main economic source for the Village of Glenboro and surrounding R.M. of South Cypress. Spruce Woods Provincial Park attracts thousands of visitors annually from across Canada and the United States. The park’s popularity as a tourist destination is only minutes away and offers recreation for the family, such as fishing, hiking trails, camping and kayaking.

Carberry is located 30 minutes north of Glenboro, 30 minutes east of Brandon and 20 minutes north of Spruce Woods Provincial Park.  The community has a robust agricultural economy growing potatoes for McCain Foods, along with a variety of other mixed farming.  Carberry’s proximity to Spruce Woods Provincial Park make it a popular tourist destination.
