Our friends at Therapeutics Initiative – University of British Columbia are hosting an event

Every physician needs to know how to interpret the evidence on a heath topic but methods for how to conduct research studies properly, especially systematic reviews with meta- analyses is not well understood by any health care provider.

This talk will help rural physicians interpret p-values in any meta-analysis.

Systematic review with meta-analysis is the highest level of research, and understanding how this research is statistically significant (through p-value interpretation) is very important. 

Therapeutics Initiative Methods Speaker Series

The Therapeutics Initiative is pleased to present our 2019/20 Methods Speaker Series. The Methods Speaker Series series aims to present methodological topics relevant to specific study designs, statistical issues in medicine, open science and the replication crisis. The series will be held on the last Wednesday of every month.

TITLE: Navigating the p-value swamp for meta-analysts

SPEAKER: Dr. Ed Kroc, Assistant Professor of Measurement, Evaluation, and Research Methodology within UBC’s Department of Educational and Counselling Psychology, and Special Education

WHEN: Wednesday, March 27th, 2019 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 PM

WHERE: Rudy North Lecture Theatre (CBH 101) in the Centre for Brain Health, UBC Point Grey Campus. Remote attendance by video-conference is possible but you will need to register.
