The CME&PD office has changed the virtual offering of the 38th Emergency Medicine for Rural Hospitals course to provide a complimentary virtual half day conference on Saturday January 29th, 2022 in recognition of the changing COVID landscape and audience preference for a shorter virtual course. 

Course Overview

This course provides updates on clinical topics relevant for physicians, nurses and other health professionals who practice in rural communities. Through a combination of plenary lectures, small group interactive sessions and workshops, participants will review current best practices, guidelines, tools and techniques for investigating and managing emergent patients – from pre-hospital, to the rural emergency department.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this course, learners will be equipped to:

  • Develop and enhance assessment, investigation and treatment skills for urgent and emergency patients presenting to the emergency department in rural hospitals
  • Identify patients who can be optimally managed in a rural setting and those who require transfer
  • Establish networks and exchange ideas and information with other rural health professionals
