About the Session
Join us for a two-hour virtual session introducing medical students and International Medical Graduates (IMGs) to rural residency and rural health.
Discover what makes rural medicine a rewarding career path, learn more about rural residency programs across Canada, and connect with current rural residents who can share their experiences and insights.
The session will include two parts:
- Hour 1: Exploring Rural Residency – Hear from SRPC members about why they chose rural medicine, followed by a Q&A session.
- Hour 2: Small-Group Discussions – Connect with residents and medical school liaisons in smaller groups organized by medical school. This is an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about the different rural residency programs available.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Describe the structure and experience of rural residency training.
- Identify resources available through the SRPC to explore rural residency opportunities, including the Rural Residency Tour and Rural Residency Catalogue.
- Connect with current rural residents and peers to build relationships and learn more about rural training pathways.
