Description
The return-to-practice journey creates serious challenges for internationally trained physicians’ (ITPs) professional identities. This webinar will explore how ITPs can nurture and expand their professional identities while navigating often lengthy and uncertain licensure pathways. Drawing on experiences from supporting ITPs across Canada, participants will gain insights into the role that professional engagement, community, and meaningful connections can play in sustaining motivation and supporting long-term career success.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Describe how the return-to-licensure process can affect professional identity and sense of belonging among internationally trained physicians.
- Identify strategies for maintaining a strong professional identity while navigating licensure requirements and career uncertainty.
- Recognize the value of professional networks, mentorship, and peer relationships in supporting successful integration into the Canadian healthcare system.
