We can be incredibly flexible with structuring a full-time practice that will work best for you!

Haliburton Highlands Family Health Organization

We are a team of 8 physicians practicing family medicine in the beautiful Haliburton and Minden area. We provide comprehensive primary care to enrolled patients of the FHO as well as affiliated, unaffiliated and visitor patients on a fee-for-service basis. We have an urgent need for 5 more primary care physicians.

Looking for physicians who are interested in working with a supportive and collaborative team

Teaching site with a full rotation of residents from Queen’s, U of T, uOttawa and others

Affiliated and work collaboratively with allied health professionals (HHFHT) including: RNs, Dietician, Social Worker, NP, and Chiropodist to ensure patients receive the right care from the right professional

Extensive business and administrative support for referrals, scheduling and billing so you can focus on your patients!

EMR: Telus PS

Current roster is 10,300 patients with 1,450 on the waiting list. There are thousands of local residents without a family doctor so you can be as busy as you’d like your practice to be.

Compensation is based on a blended capitation model as a physician belonging to a FHO with a competitive split. 70/30 split the first year and then we move into the cost sharing arrangement as a shareholder.  In that arrangement physicians share in the earnings which ends up being a range of overhead between 26 % and 31%.

Several of our physicians also staff our local ER, in-patients, LTC and palliative patients. You have the option to structure your practice as you choose.

Average daily income generated is $1800-2500 CDN, calculated after overhead. Taxes are deducted through your personal accountant.

Benefits package available through SunLife.  Entitled to four weeks of vacation/year but very flexible if more is needed.

Lush Lakefront Community

When I heard that some of our physicians commute by kayak and cross-country ski to work, I knew this was something very unique and special! We are nestled in the heart of cottage country, just two hours from the Toronto; a place of opportunity and a natural way of life. Haliburton County is known for its breathtaking scenery, wildlife, hundreds of lakes at every turn, vibrant art and music culture and outdoor adventure. We are a great family community with quality education and a wide array of extra-curricular groups, sports, clubs and churches that contribute to the welcoming and friendly environment for families of all ages. We are part of Trillium Lakelands School Board with three of our schools (French Immersion) conveniently located across the road from our clinic and hospital!

We serve a catchment area with a population of approximately 30,000; surging to 50,000 in the summer months. Our population recently increased 14%. To learn more about Haliburton County visit: www.myhaliburtonhighlands.com/
