NTHSSA Yellowknife Region Area Medical Director

Our client, the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA), is responsible for the design, planning and delivery of health and social services across the Northwest Territories (NWT).  The Yellowknife Region Area Medical Director (YK-AMD) medical leadership opportunity is dedicated to primary, community, and public health care delivery by family practitioners in Yellowknife and surrounding communities, as well as the communities serviced through the Tłı̨chǫ Community Services Agency (TCSA).

The YK-AMD position is for a three (3) year term, with a renewal option, and will have 0.4 FTE allocated to medical direction.  The YK-AMD is encouraged to maintain 0.6 FTE clinical practice in ER (CCFP-EM or other), Primary Care, Obstetrics (GP), Long-term care, Hospitalist (GP), or other clinical areas.

The YK-AMD reports and is directly accountable to the NTHSSA Territorial Medical Director, but operates in a dyadic working relationship with the Chief Operating Officer for the NTHSSA-Yellowknife Region and works closely with the Executive Director of the TCSA.  The YK-AMD has direct management responsibilities for the organization of all medical services within the facilities and its outreach services (including travel clinics), and oversees planning, management and evaluation of health care services provided by Practitioner Staff working within the area.

The Annual Salary range for a full-time Family Physician in Yellowknife ranges from $236,692 to $350,656 in gross earnings plus $48,847 - $65,942 for benefits.  As a Family Physician you must have:

  • Medical Degree plus Residency with a minimum of 3 years’ clinical experience.
  • Licensed or eligible to be licensed to practice in the NWT
