Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care is located in the Town of Penetanguishene, on the shores of beautiful Georgian Bay, less than two hours from Toronto and approximately 45 minutes from Barrie. We are an academic and research hospital and community care provider of specialized mental health, addictions, and geriatric care to some of the most vulnerable people in Ontario. A 315-bed psychiatric hospital, we provide specialized inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care for the North Simcoe Muskoka region, and increasingly serving the Ontario Health Central region spanning from Muskoka to the northern GTA. We also provides forensic psychiatric care for patients across Ontario who require a high secure facility.
We are currently seeking full time Psychiatrists to provide services on our Acute Assessment Unit. Here you will work with a well-resourced team to treat a wide range of diagnosis, with an Outpatient Team available to support transitions in care.
We are also keen to develop physician leadership opportunities across the organization. We offer physicians career development opportunities in teaching and research, quality improvement and leadership/administration. Waypoint has academic affiliations with five Ontario medical institutions and candidates will be encouraged to apply for a university appointment if they do not already have one.
Clinical Setting and Required Skills:
We are accepting expressions of interest by candidates who hold an MD or equivalent and certification (or eligibility for certification) in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and who are licensed or eligible for licensure in the Province of Ontario. Current priority areas include acute inpatient psychiatry and we are happy to explore additional opportunities upon candidate inquiry. Preference will be given to a candidate who is interested in contributing to our academic culture through one or more of the above activities, and who thrives as part of a collaborative team.
Remuneration and Benefits
Our salaried compensation model includes maternity /parental leave, five weeks paid vacation, two weeks paid professional development days, an education/professional dues allowance, and a robust pension plan. Candidates will also qualify for Northern Recruitment and Retention Funding through the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care. Per diem remuneration is also available.
