SRPC ESS CONTINUING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
The SRPC has convened a Standing Committee on CPD for ESS/OSS with its first chairperson, Dr. Ryan Falk (email@example.com) from Inuvik, NWT.
Past CPD courses include the laparoscopic salpingectomy training program for a total of 16 physicians in 2017 and 2018 that was funded by the Rural Education Action Plan and coordinated by the Rural Coordination Centre of BC. The Canadian Network of International Surgery partnered with SRPC to train 10 physicians to teach students primary hernia repair overseas in 2019.
The CFPC Community of Practice in Family Medicine (CoPFM) was struck to increase the visibility of and to advance ESS/OSS nationally. The CoPFM’s mandate within the CFPC includes advancing the educational opportunities for both ESS/OSS physicians, and Family Physicians. The Committee is also tasked with advising the Board of the CFPC on issues that affect ESS/OSS, and to assist in developing and delivering undergraduate and post graduate curriculum that is relevant to ESS/OSS.
The CoPFM's first task as a Committee is to identify ESS/OSS physicians and physicians that support ESS/OSS nationally. Concurrent to this we are identifying web resources which may be useful to ESS/OSS physicians. We are keen to involve as many physicians as possible in this. If you would like to be involved or have suggestions for membership and future directions please email Dr Brian Geller, Chair.
