ESS/OSS Quick Links: | Continuing Professional DevelopmentThe SRPC ESS/OSS Banff conference is a networking and skills event held every two years. In 2020 it was held at held at the Rimrock Resort Hotel, Banff, AB the evening of January 15th and the day of January 16th. The program was case-based with small groups and includes: Rural Trauma - Roles for ESS/OSS, Sims in Your Home OR, Does rural surgery make the cut? Are we good enough? and Hernias and other Surgical Pearls. OR nurses were encouraged to attend and apply for bursary support. The pre-course was SOS for PPH - The dreaded Cesarean Hysterectomy Course a hi-fidelity simulation with limited spots. The Banff Endoscopy program run by the Alberta Society of Endoscopic Practice often runs at the same time and location as the ESS/OSS CME program. The ESS CPD International Subcommittee is developing partnerships with communities to pair surgical services with support for local surgical capacity. The goal is for ESS/OSS practitioners to provide surgical services in a higher volume setting paired with teaching local medical learners. The Canadian Network of International Surgery partnered with SRPC on the Structured Operative Obstetrics Instructors' Course in 2018. CNIS also partnered with SRPC on the Structured Hernia Repair Instructors' Course in 2019. |
